Ira was born in the former USSR state of Uzbekistan and was raised atheist. John was born in Kentucky and raised in the church. While that's an unlikely pairing, through a series of events carefully orchestrated by God, they both were challenged to see past the world they grew up in and found eachother in the process. Along the way they discovered the true character of Jesus, and in humble obedience of His leading, ended up on the journey of a lifetime.

They have traveled all over the world together with their two children. At each step, their simple yes to the Creator has been the most fulfilling thing in their lives. In Ira's words "We have tasted and seen...His kindness, His patience, His power, and beauty, and love. There is nothing, nothing else that compares to it."
